Hi, I’m Shawn. I’ve spent over 25 years in the trenches of family-run businesses—wearing every hat from janitor to CEO, sometimes in the same afternoon. Through all the ups, downs, and “did that really just happen?” moments, one thing became clear: entrepreneurs need a place that speaks their language.
Not just another blog. Not another generic “10 tips to scale.” We need a hub. A place to get real advice, find trusted services, and remember why we started this journey in the first place.
So I built it.

Q: What inspired you to create Work Faster Play Longer?
Honestly? Frustration. I couldn’t find a single place online that combined practical business help with reminders to enjoy life. I wanted a space where entrepreneurs could get support without feeling like they were being sold a dream or a hustle. Something grounded. Something useful. Something human.
Q: What does “Work Faster Play Longer” mean to you?
It’s not about rushing—it’s about working smarter. Automating what you can, delegating what you should, and freeing up time for the stuff that actually matters. Whether that’s a beach day with your kids or finally taking that RV trip across the states.
Q: What kind of services do you offer?
We offer a mix of internal resources—like productivity guides, business coaching, and curated content—and partnerships with thoroughly vetted third-party providers. If it’s on our site, it’s been tested, trusted, and entrepreneur-approved.
Q: What’s one thing you wish more business owners knew?
That burnout isn’t a badge of honor. You don’t have to sacrifice your health, family, or sanity to build something great. In fact, the best businesses are built by people who know when to step back and recharge.
Q: Any quirks we should know about you?
I’ve been known to throw very large parties and would love to start doing that again so stay tuned!
