The WFPL TLDR

One email a month. What I’m actually seeing.

The WFPL TLDR is a plain-English monthly email for solopreneurs and family business owners who want to stay ahead — without wading through tips lists and marketing fluff.

Every issue covers three things: what dropped on the blog worth reading, one real story from the books I manage or the businesses I coach, and two or three things worth knowing before they become your problem. No pitch. No padding. Straight to the point.

Welcome to the WFPL TLDR

Welcome to the Work Faster Play Longer WFPL TLDR — the one email that keeps you in the loop on what we’re building, what’s hitting, and what you should probably be paying attention to in your business right now.

WFPL is built for solopreneurs and family business owners who are tired of doing their own bookkeeping at 11 PM, working 60-hour weeks, and still somehow feeling behind. We clean up books, build systems, and help you figure out how to actually step away from your business without it falling apart.

What dropped this month

We dropped one post in May and it hit exactly where it was supposed to. If you filed a tax extension in April — and you know who you are — October 15 is not as far away as it currently feels.

What Your CPA Needs Before They Can File Your Taxes
The complete breakdown — every document, report, and record your accountant needs before they can do anything with your return. Built around the 6-category checklist you’ll use every year.

Also worth your time:

The post that broke through

The top-performing post this month wasn’t a carousel, a reel, or a polished graphic. It was two paragraphs of plain text on Facebook.

Two businesses. One fake bank register. A partner who wanted every dollar back before anyone else got paid. We rebuilt the P&L and Balance Sheet from scratch — and what started as a bookkeeping disaster ended with a resolved partnership dispute and a business saved.

The lesson, every time: a real story beats a polished graphic.

What we’re watching

Bookkeeping: Botkeeper is gone. The AI bookkeeping platform shut down completely in February 2026 after burning through $90 million — six months after Bench went bankrupt in December 2024. Two major names. Two exits. Six months apart. Your books probably shouldn’t live inside someone else’s venture-funded experiment.

Business Coaching: The business coaching market is on track to hit $1.2 billion globally by 2026, growing at nearly 9% per year. 73% of clients now expect their coach to have a formal credential and measurable, data-backed results. The coaches pulling ahead are the ones with real systems and real proof.

Family Travel: 47% of travelers in 2026 are booking multigenerational trips — up 17% from 2024. Disney World this summer is offering free water park tickets, free dining plans for kids under 10, Bluey in the parks, a new Zootopia 4D attraction, and the Muppets taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. If you’ve been putting off the family trip — this summer actually has some real reasons to go.
